ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (Grades 4-6)

Elementary school students will "take a trip around the world" with weekly cultural themes. The following activities will be combined with academic study for a truly fun learning experience this summer!

Camping Trips

Cachuma Lake Recreation Area Camping Trip

Set amidst acres of wilderness flanked by the picturesque Santa Ynez and San Rafael Mountains, lies glimmering Cachuma Lake. Students will enjoy this wilderness recreation area as well as day trips to Santa Barbara and Solvaang (the Danish-themed town). Activities will include visits to the Santa Barbara pier, shopping areas and beaches.

Field Trips

IMAX Theater and the California Science Center

Students will experience an all day science adventure at the California Science Center! With more than 100 hands-on exhibits, students will get a chance to ride the 40-foot "high-wire" bike and meet Tess, the 50-foot transparent body simulator! They will see all kinds of living creatures in the World of Life and explore the varied environments of land and sea in Ecosystems. On the seven story IMAX screen, students will journey through distant galaxies and accompany space-walking astronauts in the gripping movie of Hubble 3D.

Castaic Lake State Recreation Area

Cool off at Castaic Lake for the day! A beautiful state water reservoir located just north of Santa Clarita, students will spend the day picnicking and enjoying the swimming beaches of the West Side Lagoon and the hiking trails with spectacular overlooks of upper Castaic Lake.

Getty Center

Students will travel to a hilltop in the Santa Monica Mountains to visit the Getty Center against its backdrop of dramatic architecture, tranquil gardens and breathtaking views. They will take a guided tour and have the opportunity to view the Getty Museum's incredible collection of Western art from the Middle Ages to the present.

Swimming

Elementary School students will swim at the Sierra Madre pool. Instruction will be available for beginning swimmers.

Mini-Golf

Students will head off to the local mini-golf course to sharpen up their golf techniques and practice the fine art of the Hole in One.

Bowling

Elementary School students will go bowling. Learn the basics of bowling, including scoring. Always a big hit!

All-School Activities

  • Sports Games, Olympian Style competitions throughout the summer in a variety of team and individual sports including track & field, soccer and basketball.
  • Music Cafe: Enjoy musical entertainment from students in a cafe-style environment.
  • End-of-summer ho-down, barbeque and square dance for students and their parents.
  • Fridays are designated for all-school group activities like sports games, scavenger hunts, water play, student-made movies, and more!
